Yet another film I had high hopes for. Not only do I love Scorsese films but I love films about New York in the 80s. Go figure. So this was a perfect storm. Unfortunately, the editing just wasn’t there. The story dragged on trying to capture too many elements. Granted, it seems the autobiography was full of rich stories but it didn’t all need to go in there. There was some great substance but the film didn’t know which way to go and it felt chaotic. Plus, there were moments where it heavy handed wanted you to root for Jordan Belfort, and other times forced you not to. Versus just laying out more of an opinion for us to decide.

But this film did have one of the greatest trailers of 2013.
