Director: Ryan Murphy

Thanks to my Nestle clients, we were invited to a screening of the adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s brilliant novel. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst and saddening butchering of a book. Granted, five vodka tonics got me through without falling asleep, although I did have to walk out at one point (thanks to the five vodka tonics).

The problem with it as a film is that I’m not sure who it’s made for. It’s not really a chick flick, guys don’t like it, Julia Roberts’ isn’t likable and she’s not the victim of her divorce, Billy Cudrup is. The acting is absolutely terrible, James Franco looks like he was high for his entire performance. And the cinematography was really bad. I guess that’s what happens when it attempts to look like bad TV such as Glee.

The only highlight was a close-up of a perfect plate of spaghetti. Yeah, that’s about it.
