★★★

Director: Lars von Trier
Year: 2011

I was all psyched to see this, given Kirsten Dunst’s win for Best Actress at Cannes. Well, let’s just say, it is the Kirsten show. But more so, because she has some massive boobs! Yup, her breasts are all over this film. And I’m not saying that cause I liked her in Bring It On. It was a bit over the top.

The film is broken up into two parts. The first one concentrating on her character, and the second on Charlotte Gainsbourg‘s. I see why Dunst could have won the award, but it’s really only for her portrayal in the first half. Her character changes in the second half so I’m at a loss. As a story, it all makes sense for that transition, but still.

Visually, this film is stunning. Beautiful effects, nice location, a mix of cinematography styles and everything you’d expect from a von Trier film.
