★★★

Director: Chuck Workman
Year: 1990

A quarter of the way through it, I realized I had seen this many years ago. It’s a decent look into the life of Warhol, told through the lens of his family, who’s humble lives are the antithesis of how he lived.  All of them are modest, almost ignorant immigrants as they had been in the 50s when they arrived to Pittsburgh.  Which is their charm but also quite funny thinking about how Warhol lived.

The saddest portion is a reminder that when he died, no single celebrity friend attended his funeral in Pittsburgh. For a man who coined the term Superstar, it’s quite sad.

Although the film is poorly edited and definitely doesn’t take into account those close ‘friends’ who did know him, it’s a decent story, but it definitely falls short. It’s almost like this was Workman’s school thesis or something.
