I’m surprised I had never seen this Xmas classic. But all I could think about was, was this the turning point when Macy’s beat out Gimbels? Frankly, as an advertiser, this is the type of stuff we would get reamed over nowadays. But back then, the screenwriting and story won Academy Awards. Guess they were ahead of the times with Branded Entertainment. I suppose I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t in this business, but I just kept thinking of how much that brand placement cost.
