THIS. FILM. IS. AMAZING! I was blown away. First, I thought it was an old film that aired and that they just recorded new VO and that’s why it’s called the Mixtape. But no. It’s all footage found recently. And it’s absolutely incredible. First, the editing is great. It really feels like a film from the 70s. But what’s more are the interviews. Stokey Carmichael’s interview of his mom is fantastic. His sound bytes while talking with reporters are legendary. Even an interview with Angela Davis in prison. How in the world did they get this type of access?

The fact that it’s shown through this unbiased viewpoint of Swedish reporters makes this ever more fascinating. That the Swedes were supporting the North Vietnamese during this time. That you have a more sophisticated culture viewing a younger one going through tensions and government conspiracy is tremendous. This is a huge must-see.
