The Bucket List
★★
Director: Rob Reiner
Year: 2007
So this is one of those films, just like The Shawshank Redemption, that’s played on TNT/TBS all of the time but that I’ve never seen. And I only saw it because for the longest time, it’s the number 1 rated and rented movie on Netflix. I have no idea why. Unless everyone who’s renting on Netflix are old and thinking about a bucket list.
The joys of the film are Morgan Freeman’s character. I actually enjoyed the forced story of making him a mechanic and yet having scenes demonstrating his intellect. I could see the script describing this characters: an average guy but how do we demonstrate that he’s super smart. Oh, let’s have him answer Jeopardy questions.
It looks like it was a blast to film, just traveling from location to location. And yes, I’m sure everyone would love to have a list or go on adventures like these two men. But as the film suggests, only if money were no object.
