Director: Michelangelo Antonioni, Steven Soderbergh, and Kar Wai Wong
Year: 2004

I never thought I’d ever give a Wong Kar-Wai film only 1-star, but this was bad. The rating is a bit unfair because I didn’t watching the Soderbergh nor Antonioni films. I didn’t have to because other reviews I read said the Wong Kar-Wai film is the best of the bunch and if that’s the case, I definitely don’t want to watch it.

First, I’m sure the producers had an amazing vision for this film/series. Let’s get these three amazing directors who talk about love and sex and have them shoot short films about sex. I think they had a long leash to do what they wanted because it wasn’t good. The only joy I got was watching Gong Li. But her performance was more like her character: an over the hill prostitute getting in a worse and worse situation and by the end, I just viewed her character as being rather pathetic. Not to mention the good looking tailor who’s enamored by her.
