What an absolutely f*cked up story. The premise being his wife is brain dead hooked up to machines and he discovers that she’s been having an affair. I mean, who the hell thinks up stuff like this. It shouldn’t work on paper, but it does work as a film due to the genius of Alexander Payne, who I’m not a fan of. I wanted to hate it since I didn’t care for his previous films (I was at the Sideways premiere and though the short they showed before the feature was much better). Anyway, George Clooney gives a great performance. Just felt sad for the actress who played the wife. I can imagine her agent breaking the news to her, “You’re going to play George Clooney’s wife! Oh, but you’ll be brain dead and looking like sh*t the entire film.”
