Single Man, A
★★★★★
Director: Tom Ford
Year: 2009
To state that this film is visually beautiful is an understatement. Every little detail, every little prop on the desks, their movements, the styling are simply a pleasure to watch. And it’s really that meticulous eye to detail that makes this film shine. And this goes for the dialogue and pacing as well.
It’s a very simple, modest story. Yes, it has a gay theme, but it’s not a gay film. It’s really a film about living life and knowing what’s important to you and to those around you.
I walked away feeling the same way I did when I saw An Education or the first time I saw Chungking Express, euphoria that you got a chance to experience genius. Plus a huge smile on my face at how much I was enjoying the moment.

i just saw A SINGLE MAN last wknd. impressive debut from tom ford and colin was v. deserving of the oscar nom. art direction was beyond.
