I actually thought this was a different film about the North Korean football team beating England. But it’s actually the story of the US World Cup team beating England in the first round. It’s a terrific story but the directing was mediocre. What could have turned into such an emotional film was just…bleh. I did enjoy the surprise of seeing Gerard Butler in the title role though. But this film could have been so much more. So much like Victory which I thought had a nice emotional hook to it.
