Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room
★★★
Director: Alex Gibney
Year: 2005
Since I watched this film 8 years after it came out, I can’t help but make comparisons to The Inside Job. Both are about corporate scandal. And yet, 5 years after the fall of Enron, we went through this again with Lehman and other banks. Where as The Inside Job gave a great account with some amazing and powerful people, this film concentrated mostly on found footage and a handful of individuals. I wished it would have focused more on the everyday people who lost their pensions and retirements versus just the corporate Enron watchdogs.
But it made a great connection between the Bushes and even Schwarzenegger. That was very unexpected.
