I was a little torn whether this was a 3-star or 4-star film. But thinking about Matt Damon‘s performance, I forgot at times his other roles, so at least that gave it an edge. And the minimal special effects in the film gave it a raw edge. Can’t believe how much they spent on it though. The effects were mediocre but it was more about the narrative. Blomkamp did a good job managing his artsy, guerrilla nature and trying to be mainstream.
I just wished Jodie Foster was better. I really like her but she could have been any other actor. Couldn’t tell if it was the direction but a terrible role for her.
