Marathon Man
★★★★
Director: John Schlesinger
Year: 1976
Seventies thrillers are amazing. The pacing, the jump cuts and the bad sound. It really puts you on edge. I didn’t know what to expect and didn’t even understand the intrigue til the last quarter of the film. Which made me appreciate a film like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which has as it’s foundation a film like this.
It’s also worth noting that Roy Scheider would be my favorite actor if I was of age in the 70s. He’s simply amazing and makes me want to watch more of his films. Completely underappreciated, this guy was a genius. It’s too bad that he’ll also remind me of Blue Thunder.
