I think I’m surprising myself by giving this film 5-stars. It’s such a mainstream film. Even in the way the formulaic narrative unfolds – start with background on characters; establish comradery and tension; have action sequence; have another action sequence; have a third action sequence; resolve. But what made this a 5-star film are the final scenes. For those of you unfamiliar, this is based on a true-story and the ending is well known, but I won’t spoil it. But for me, I knew what to expect. But what Greengrass did was shoot it in such a way I had never seen. And Tom Hanks gave one of the best performances ever, I actually had tears running down my eyes. It was that good. Kudos.
