Ghost Writer, The
★★★★
Creator: Roman Polanski
Year: 2010
This was a sleeper film for 2010. I had never heard of it until I read some articles on the best films of the year and this was on it. Which naturally meant to watch it. The film moves very slowly and deliberately. The fact that Polanski was editing this film while he was under house arrest is a story in itself. And I found out that all of the locations and house were constructed in Germany, even though it’s supposed to be near Cape Cod, since he’s not allowed back in the States.
Anyway, the film plays like a perfect Hitchcock film, full of subtle hints that in hindsight all makes sense, but while viewing, you think nothing of them. Definitely, one of the best films of the year.

Great movie, indeed! For some reason it felt like a TV movie to me at times in the middle, although I can’t really say why. Very last scene is very cool.
I think it was the cinematography that made it feel like a tv movie, the camera was too sharp and didn’t have much depth, like it was all shot digitally or something.
Or it felt like a long episode of Twilight Zone.
