Colin Firth was my favorite actor last year for A Single Man, so it’s great seeing him get the Oscar nod again this year. His performance was fantastic when compared with the breadth of his other roles, the fact that he can transform himself is quite remarkable.

Also what’s interesting about this film is just how simple a plot it is: a stuttering king needs to give a speech.  I mean, that’s really it. The beauty is the perfection and control the film has in telling this story, something the actors said they had no idea it would be worthy of an award given just how dull the real life story actually was.
