Once Upon a Time in America

I have never seen this masterpiece, always wanted to, just never had the time. Because it is a time investment, it’s quite long and quite amazing. The only disappointment is knowing New York and just where these scenes were shot. I got incredibly confused having no idea that DUMBO was a huge Jewish slum at the turn of the century and where gangs lived, and at one point, even though about Grand Theft Auto assuming that’s where they were inspired turning the area beneath the Brooklyn bridge into it.

Only to find out, the scenes in DUMBO were supposed to take place on the LES. And half way through, I consulted Wikipedia to discover the end story and what it all signified which made it even more brilliant.  Plus, a young Jennifer Connelly is terrific.
