Twilight
★★★
Director: Catherine Hardwicke
Year: 2008
By now you’ve figured out I watch a lot of different types of films. And yes, Twilight is made for teenage girls and their mothers, but I had to see what all the fuss was about. And I gotta say, the first 1/3 of the film was quite good. The typical new girl in town, high school film. Beautifully shot in this bizarre pale color balance. All of the stereotypes are there and I do enjoy high school films.
That is, until the vampires reveal themselves. The acting gets bad. Sure there’s some nice scenes and their house is incredible, but the cheese factor just continues to grow.
Not sure if I’d watch the other sequels, but this might have been enough to feed my hunger for vampire flicks. I could see the allure of the books and I could see if I was of the age where films like this was targeting me, how I could have enjoyed it more. It’s just at this age now, I’m not quite sure. But definitely worth watching to see what everyone is talking about.

Totally agree. My beau and I were quite surprised to see that this was a pretty cool story and shot very well. I agree it did leave me a bit at the turn but still here’s to Ms Hardwicke.
Unfortunately they stole the next films from her and gave to a man who completely fracked them up beyond belief. Really made me hate Hollywood…again.
Kathleen sent me this link showing why Twilight is so popular. Granted, it’s about the book but it’s still appropriate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4uuGvmAxTI
