Absolutely incredible! I didn’t know what to expect other than, it must be good if there’s a Criterion collection of it. The story is about notorious art forger Elmyr de Hory and Elmyr’s biographer, Clifford Irving. But the entire documentary is really about fakery. It’s not just about artists and their work, but those who purport to be critics. About film makers and the media and what facts they show you.  And then us, the audience and what we choose to accept.  Brilliant.

This film is important for film students because of Welles’ editing style and technique. Incredibly original for the early 70s. Worth watching and paying attention.
