★★★

Director: Jacques Tati
Year: 1958

So I love Playtime, but there’s something about Mon Oncle that I never got into. It could be the beyond absurd modernity of his sister’s house. Or the fact that these people are unlikable, even M. Hulot isn’t as likable as he is in his other films.

I know this is a lot of people’s favorite Jacques Tati film. And in context to 1958, it is pretty revolutionary. The French New Wave still didn’t develop for a couple of more years and this definitely inspired their sentiment.
