★★★

Director: Terrence Malick
Year: 2011

First of all, I love Terrence Malick films. But this one… not so sure. Granted, the film I thought I saw wasn’t really the film that I saw.  You see, the film’s characters don’t necessarily have names. So without giving away too much, the film is set in the 50s and one portion of the story is about two brothers’ relationship and one child’s relationship with his dad.  Then, the other part of the film is set in the present with the child as a grown up.  The film that I saw, mistook which brother was the older one.  Thus, I saw a completely different film than every other person who saw this film.  Frankly, I liked my premise better because the character’s development was so much seamless.  Oh well. Guess that’s why the audience at Cannes booed the film.
