I remember when this was out at the theaters I had wanted to see this.  Not only was it Noah Baumbach, but it’s also produced by Jennifer Jason Lee, one of my favorite actresses.  And her last film that she produced, The Anniversary Party, I absolutely loved.  So it was sad to discover just how disappointing this film was.  Ben Stiller’s character is so unlikeable, the film got painful to watch.

The only redeeming part of this film was Greta Gerwig‘s performance.  She was absolutely terrific, authentic and charming. If Ben Stiller’s character was more like hers, the film could have been different and better.  Or, if the film was about her, it would have been great.  But unfortunately, it wasn’t.
